Heating and AC Wall thermostat · AC with the white remote

The heating is central with a smart thermostat, so it can take a little longer than usual to warm up: bear with it. To change the temperature, turn the wall thermostat above the sofa. We recommend not going above 23º.

There are two AC units (bedroom and living room). Before switching them on, try opening the windows: sometimes that's enough. If not, point the white remote at each one. So they don't drip, don't set them below 24º; if they drip, switch them off for a while.

TV Smart TV with Netflix, HBO and Prime

Use only the white remote in the living room. There's no cable TV, but it's a Smart TV with Netflix, HBO, Prime Video… Feel free to watch whatever you like.

Please don't log out of the platforms or change the settings.

Bathroom and shower Hot water, extractor fan and hairdryer

For hot water, turn the shower control to the left. For the overhead shower, turn the water on first and then press the button on the wall.

After every hot shower, run the extractor fan for a while (the last light switch) and leave the door open so the steam clears.

There's shampoo and shower gel in the shower. The hairdryer is in the second drawer (there's a socket in the first one). If the toilet paper runs out, there's more in the black cabinet.

The washer/dryer: ask us first and we'll explain how to use it properly.

Kitchen Make yourself at home; the dishwasher does it all

If you cook, leave it as you found it: anything you use can go in the dishwasher, no need to wash by hand.

Feel free to use the basics (salt, oil, condiments) and the fridge, being mindful of what's already there; if you need space, move things carefully.

The microwave is inside one of the big wooden cabinets. The coffee maker is in the cabinet above the extractor hood, and the coffee is in the first pantry drawer (under the microwave). Any doubts, just message us.

Drinking water Madrid's tap water is 100% safe

Madrid's tap water is 100% safe to drink — and genuinely good. There's cold water in the fridge; if you use it, please top it up again.

In Madrid it's completely normal to ask for a glass of tap water in restaurants: no need to pay for bottled water everywhere.

Rubbish and recycling Three bins; organic waste goes down after 8 pm

There are three bins in the kitchen: organic (under the sink), plastic and paper (under the glasses area).

Organic waste goes down every day after 8:00 pm; each building has its own bin by the front door. Plastic and paper go to the containers in the square, two blocks away turning left on Calle Pez.

Sheets, towels and iron Bed made and ready; we handle the linen

You'll find the bed made with clean sheets, plus two towels and a bath mat ready for you. Used towels can be left hanging on the bathroom radiator; we'll collect them.

There's a small iron for occasional use: if you think you'll need it, let us know in advance and we'll leave it out for you.

Doors and keys Always lock the door when you go out

Lock the door with the key every time you leave: pulling it shut isn't enough, you need to turn the key. From inside you can use the round button on the electronic lock.

For the building door, use the key or hold the fob against the symbol next to the last two buzzers. The key has a knack to it; if it won't open, message us and we'll open it remotely.

If the intercom rings and it's a courier with a parcel in our name, feel free to take it. Don't open the door to strangers.

First-aid kit and pharmacy First-aid kit at home · pharmacy right across the street

There's a first-aid kit in the flat: if you need it, get in touch.

And for any medicine, there's a pharmacy right across from the front door.

Electricity If a breaker trips, message us

If a circuit breaker trips or there's any problem with the power, message us and we'll be happy to help.

Kitchen camera Unplugged during your stay

There's a security camera in the kitchen, but don't worry: before you arrive we make sure it's unplugged. You can check for yourself — you'll see the power cable disconnected.

Living together

You're staying in someone's home: thank you for treating it with the same love we do. Eight things that keep everything running smoothly.

  • Street shoes stay by the entrance — especially away from the rug.
  • No smoking inside the flat.
  • After 10 pm, let's keep it quiet for the neighbours.
  • Turn off lights and AC when you go out, and close the windows when you're not in.
  • Always lock up when you leave (turn the key — pulling the door shut is not enough).
  • Closed cabinets and drawers are best left unopened (except the kitchen ones). If you need something, ask us and we'll tell you where it is.
  • The flat was renovated with a lot of love: treat the furniture as if it were yours.
  • No extra people in the exchange without agreeing it first. For a one-off visit, check with us beforehand.
